Dion's Mini - Dion - 08-27-2015

Going to be doing some some small changes to try and get more air flow through the radiator and oil cooler to try and get temperatures down. also will be adding a pipe to get some cooler air into the weber. Since the nose is removable and inner arches have been removed, I think by adding inner arches this will force more air through the radiator. will see how this works out.

Will post some pictures later of the progress.

Really neat looking engine bay for a racer Dion, very nice!

Would you mind giving us the specs for the engine as well as kw output more or less?

RE: Dion's Mini - minitim - 08-27-2015

looks very impressive Dion. What radiator are you running?

RE: Dion's Mini - Jared Mk3 - 08-27-2015

Have you considered boxing the radiator in for ducting in the fan side, then you'll have air flowing directly through it. Or do you think that would be a problem considering the higher temps etc.?

RE: Dion's Mini - Dion - 08-27-2015

Tim, it's a minispares supercool, I also have a minispares aluminium radiator, so far I think the supercool radiator is performing better.

Jared, that's a possibility, but to implelement it seems more difficult than adding an aluminium inner wing...

I suppose you're right about that. Simple is better.

This is a little bit back to front, but this is how the Mini started out. It was a real rust bucket.

The shell was real bad, lots of patch work done by the previous owner.

After lots of grinding, welding and cutting the rust was removed and replaced by new panels and metal.

Damn, I didn't realise that you had done so much bodywork to that shell.

RE: Dion's Mini - Dion - 09-07-2015

Yes, it ended up being a bit of work, I think it took 3 years to get the Mini on the track.
