So I've been keen to get a set of classic style bucket seats for a while and I was a tad bummed when I missed out on a set a few weeks back. Well, as luck would have it, a friend and fellow mini owner (Dennis) had a set of SA spec MK1 Cooper S bucket seats in storage that he decided to sell. Another friend and mini owner (Quinton) tagged me in the post and reserved the seats for me this afternoon. So I hopped in the mini, took a lovely drive on the mountain pass to his place and now two hours later I had packed the seats into my mini and was heading home Smile I was also lucky enough to get a free old school clubman steering wheel from him as well. All in all, a fun Saturday. Rare mini parts and a fun drive in the mini.

The seats packed onto the back seat of the mini:

Nice buy with those seats! What's the plan for them? Recover and fit? Polishing up the steering wheel?

RE: Caesar the 1275 E - Diary of minor changes - Vinay-RS - 02-26-2017

I wiped down the steering wheel with a wet cloth and then used some of that shield silicone spray on it. Worked quite well and seems to have lifted the colour a little. It's actually in really nice condition and looks super retro.

Yup, spoken to Andrew and Dennis about some good classic car interior specialists. I'll give them a call on Monday and get some quotes. Since they've already been re-covered before, I don't think there is any real loss of history in getting them redone.

Polish the wheel with some Megiuars or something similar.

Sweet, I'll give that a try and see how they look.

I'd love to dude, but I'm not planning on going green and grey, since that wouldn't go with the rest of the car. Plus the thought of the costs seems rather terrifying. At the very least I'll try and get a pricing on a set of covers and padding from them. Can one do the assembly themselves?

So things have been slow. Sourced some parts, gave some other parts for professional fixing and I've been searching for tools and the correct paints. Decided to check out a swap meet today to look for some old tools, badges, etc., but found this little gem.

It might look familiar to some of you. Jared Wink , fitted a similar ammo case to him mk3 to use as a car spares case. I think I might give it a polish and perhaps use it for the same purpose Smile
