RE: 1978/79 GTS - Heinrich - 02-21-2018 Looks great, where did you get the door weather strips. I need a set for my Clubman as the old ones are scratching my window. RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 02-22-2018 Hi Heinrich I got them at SportsCarCentre. Just beware not cheap to replace. RE: 1978/79 GTS - Heinrich - 02-23-2018 Hi Phil, Just for intrest sake what did you pay on those weather strips? RE: 1978/79 GTS - Boyscout - 02-23-2018 IRRC the last time I bought those window scrapers they were over R700/set. You need left and right. So close on R1500 RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 02-24-2018 Ja Heinrich what Boyscout said. So I was not happy with the extensions of the hood lining running down the dash in front as they were taught and not following the body like it should so that the lip is available for the windscreen rubber to fit. This then happened.... Then I fitted it properly, like should be. Then the rear screen was fitted with some choice words etc. Then funnily the new windscreen went in very easily.... with new rubber also. Then I fitted the grommets for the floor pan and boot. In the boot Then the rear carpet got fitted, which is the original one for this car, but at a later stage will be changed to a brown item. The rear door card, not the best one I have, but it will work for now. RE: 1978/79 GTS - Vinay-RS - 02-25-2018 Love the original interior. It looks really good! RE: 1978/79 GTS - Boyscout - 02-25-2018 Looks great Philip! Yes the only way to fit windscreen is with proper Mini windscreen rubber. I broke a brand new screen trying to use local rubber. RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 02-26-2018 Hi Boyscout You are right, but the rear and front rubber are new items. Just need the moulding tool to fit the windows finally. The front carpet was fitted next. Then the front seats were cleaned up and fitted back with new bolts and washers. Next up was the two front door cards. Next I cleaned the boot lid bolt holes up with my tap. The new rubber for the boot handle was fitted. Seems the boot lock mechanism was lost during respray, so I had to look for and clean another one. Lastly boot rubber and clips was fitted with the boot light. RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 03-08-2018 Well I got the adapter made for the steering wheel boss and.... From the rear... Still deciding what I want on the central cap. In the car. RE: 1978/79 GTS - jimmyjamjar - 03-09-2018 how about designing a cool graphic and having laser engraved on the boss cover, something like this as an idea starter |
