Don't you just hate those damn finance people. Wink

Nothing much to report this week. Picked up an old rocker cover to clean up and spray with crackle black paint. Cleaned off the old paint with some thinners and got it painted up with some primer first.

Also got a replacement twin carb manifold for the one I got from my friend. Still need to get the throttle bracket and washer bottle pump.

Hopefully I can take some time off this weekend to fit the parts that I need to.

Yeah, still keen to see what you have planned for the epic engine builds.

So yesterday I decided to paint the rocker cover with VHT wrinkle paint, I followed the instructions and it didn't work Sad Feeling very sad and disheartened, I just left the rather ugly looking rocker cover and decided to tackle other jobs that needed doing.

Firstly, the engine steady bushes needed urgent replacement. So I removed the old bushes, cleaned and painted the steady in black and fitted new poly bushes that I'd gotten quite a while back.

Also needed to renew parts of the wiper system. So first job was to remove all the old parts, and to remove the inner bushes on the wiper arm, it made sense to remove the entire motor system. Hence that came off. I didn't have any silver paint to paint it again, but I did paint clean and paint the bracket in black and wirebrush the motor to remove a lot of the surface rust and make it look a little nicer.

After fitting new bushes, I fitted new washer jets and new wiper blades too Smile

Now, we've been having a serious water shortage in the Western Cape as of late and it's illegal to wash a car. Fortunately the little bit of rain that has fallen had kind of cleaned the surface. I took a container of polish and gave the paintwork a good buffing. It's nice that the paint looks a bit shinier.

Minis are all on hold at the moment.
Got a board exam to study for so everything is on hold.
And need some cash to sort my EU passport out as it seems it is a huge help when looking for secondment opportunities.

But all in due course.
Having withdrawal symptoms at the moment as all the cars are in pieces but sometimes such is life.

Such fewer adjectives in this post compared to the messages on Saturday.

Haha! Yeah, too many adjectives when describing my failure at painting on Saturday morning...
Still, I'll take the wins where I can get them.

Shucks man, I suppose board exams are really challenging and take up your time when you have a full time job.

Haven't really had a chance to work on the Mini lately. At least I was able to source a few of the parts that I needed for another planned change. Sourced a set of MkII taillights (pictures to follow later), and in the same week, sourced a neat reverse light. Gave it a quick polish and it looks ready to fit. Now to decide how to mount it to the car.

I organised a swap meet yesterday for the Mini Owners Club and it was a decent success. A good friend and fellow club member offered to host the event, and I was able to pick up this fitting for the HS4 air filter box.

And here is the MkII taillight:

They need a refurb, with some polish and cleaning. Hopefully I can do that this week and then make a plan to fit them,
