Those dashpots must have taken quite a bit of elbow grease to get them looking like that.

Miniac

If you have access to a Lathe, then it is not a problem, but yes rebuilding the carbs completely did however take some time.

RE: 1978/79 GTS - Miniac - 11-13-2015

I actually do have access to a couple of different size lathes, my only concern would be does it not begin to dull over time or have you added some sort of protection or clear coat to keep it gleaming and looking good?

RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 11-14-2015

Miniac

I only polish with progressively lighter grain of sand paper till about 2000 grit on the lathe. I only use autosol to polish for show and shine or the like in 5 min the shine is back. Nothing else was painted on or coated.

That carb setup looks stunning. Where do you find the petroflex braided hoses and the rubber ends that go on them?

RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 11-15-2015

Abri those hoses came with the carbs, but SCC sells them in all the various lenghts.

RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 11-16-2015

Late last year I decided to retro fit the correct 12 inch steel wheels the car left the factory with.  The search was on.  Eventually I found a set of four wheels that was for sale.  Out of the four wheels I could only use three as the last wheel was rusted completely through from the inside out.  I kept on searching and eventually managed to get another wheel or two.  The wheels got taken down to bare metal and primed and sprayed silver.  I found the correct wheel nuts and some much needed centre caps for the wheel hubcaps.  I fitted them to the car and it was great.

Oooh they look so good in red Smile Are they not the same as the wheels that came out on the Apache?

RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 11-16-2015

I then managed to source a set of HLE front seats that I had recovered with the back seat.  Further after a lot of searching I found the correct tan door cards and fitted them to the car.  Most of the door and window rubbers was replaced.  A problem with the brakes forced me to import and fit a new dual circuit brake master cylinder.

The final product

Vinay that is red oxide primer before the final silver coat gets on. The Apache has a different PCD from the Mini at 108/4 or 115/4 so not the same, as far as my knowledge goes only the 12 inch wheeled GTS came out with these wheels, they are the same as the UK 12 inch steel wheel I think.

The recovered seats look good. Is that leather or vinyl?

Ooops Tongue Didn't realise that was primer.
