It's always special when you see more and more parts come off this car and the bodywork underneath looks so straight and rust free.

This really does look to be a very solid shell. I take it that the mk1 bootlid isn't the original items as fitted by the factory?

The bootlid is factory on this one. Quite a few of the later cars had these on. I assume there were surplus parts lying around,so they used them up. Same thing happened in the UK on a much larger scale. Instead of putting parts on to random cars, those guys made complete special edition cars just to use the parts!

So essentially it's a sort of parts bin car, lovely bit of history.

Pretty much. Still taking it apart to see what I find.

Just for reference sake, the doors and bootlid started like this :

I stripped them of all internal and external bits :

Might need to get a replacement driver's door though.

That drivers door dented?

Looks like something dented it and then carried on moving through the whole door.

Is the rear quarter panel ok?

Looking good Jay

RE: Original 1275GT Rebuild - Vinay-RS - 11-25-2015

Since the door is dented you might as well just give it away now Tongue ...

That said it is a standard mk3 door, so you should be able to get a new one easily right?

Can't you just replace the door skin? Probably cheaper to get another door though
