I quite like the rubber strip between the arch and body - looks quite neat. Car is looking good!

Very nice Phillip!

RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 08-06-2018

Thanks Manne

Next up I refitted the heater and after some choice words and new spire clips etc it was in.

The grille still needed some attention, so I removed the blue and old black paint.

I then dragged out the original seats I have been hoarding as I needed to leather treat them as they were crackly.

Passenger seat after treatment, before excess cream removal.

After this the seats did not feel very hard and brittle anymore, will treat them a few more times over the months to come.

The rear seats luckily were still covered with the fake sheep skin wool covers, so they look much better.

Treated the two front seats for a second time and left them in the sun for a little bit so that the treatment could soak into the seats.

Next up was the head light surrounds that needed the old paint to be removed.

Masked up.

All done

The grille all masked up after paint removal.

All painted.

Now there has been a lot of debate about which grille badge should be fitted to this year model of GTS and finally I have decided to fit the one with the Leyland whirl pool logo on the left and MINI next to it.  Needed some attention...

One of the steps for masking and painting.

And the final result.

Looking good . Nice finishing touches, they make all the difference between a good job and a great one.

RE: 1978/79 GTS - DomMINIque - 08-08-2018

Nice Phillip. Making good progress and getting there.

RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 08-08-2018

Ja manne getting there slowly but surely...

So one of the most important things that distinguish a GTS very quickly.

Masking it out...

the back end.

Carefully sticking the first stripe.

Across the door...

and

The other side getting the same treatment.

RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 08-22-2018

On with the build yet again.

Next the RH air vent was fitted.

Hose and scoop before fitment to RHS, which this car has never ever had fitted since I have owned it.

All fitted and connected after bracket got the usual treatment.

LH side fitted after this bracket also was resprayed.

RE: 1978/79 GTS - Jared Mk3 - 08-22-2018

Keen to see a full shot of the car with the stickers fitted Smile

RE: 1978/79 GTS - GTSPhil - 09-03-2018

Yes Jared

I had to procure these...

Marking out and alignment before fitment.

I had to change the vinyl on the sides also as they did not line up with the stripe on the bonnet.

Final on the LH.
