Looks like something dented it and then carried on moving through the whole door.
Is the rear quarter panel ok?
The rear panel is ok. Just seems to be the door. Can't complain too much for such an original car - there are a couple other dents here and there, but that door is the worst.

I was thinking of just doing the door skin, but having no experience in bodywork I'd imagine it would be quite difficult to do. Also, these doors are fairly easy to get ahold of in good condition at a good price.

Just be sure that the proposed replacement door has a framework as solid as these ones have.

Definitely! The driver's door is quite damaged around the window surround though. It's almost broken free from the cracks.

I take it that the frame has cracked just where the window frame meets the door framework, seems to be quite a common occurrence.

Yes, but quite badly. The frame has almost broken free of the door. It is a common occurrence - had the same repair to do on my Mk3, but not to this extent.

The hinge and lock panels look to be fairly solid, should make for an easy amount of bodywork prep before paint.
