Yeah dude... I am still gutted Sad There's nothing I can do apart from trying my best to get it sorted on a tight budget.

So I didn't take any photos after getting him back from the bodyshop as I am still not happy with the finish.

Still there are a lot of other problems and I decided to ask some friends if they can help me tackle them.
First thing, I've tried regreasing the throttle cable and it helped but because it was bent inside the sheath, it was still super sticky. So one of the guys told me to go to the bike shop and get a bike brake cable and sheath. We fitted it and it made a MASSIVE difference! The car feels so much more responsive and is definitely nicer to drive.
Thanks Abri for changing the cable with me Smile

Following this, we went to a friend (Gordon) who has alignment tools to set the toe. Now Caesar has had some rather dodgy wheel alignment for a while and the wheel alignment places that I checked with weren't able to do alignment on a mini.

So it turns out there was a lot of toe in (+2 deg), so we set that to the correct values that afternoon.

Now at the same time there seems to be positive camber at the front. We tried to investigate where this was coming from and couldn't figure it out. Nothing was bent and the shell and subframe look straight. If anyone has any ideas on the source of the positive cambre I'd appreciate it. We were thinking it might be because the hilos are too high, which was causing the positive camber. Could this be the problem?

Anyway here is a pic taken by my friend who set the alignment:

big thumbs up to Gordon! A man with so much knowledge, who is happy to spend time chatting and telling people about minis and how to work on then Smile

As you can see the bonnet isn't looking too good and the grille isn't great either. Excuse the dirt, haven't had a chance to clean it up and detail the car in a while.

That didn't come out half bad.

The camber issue would probably be caused by the ride height. Might be worth dropping down a bit to get it right.

common problem with the handbrake mount shearing off the floor.

and she is riding quite high at the front, the higher it goes, the more positive the camber.

*cough* He *cough* but yeah so ride height seems to be the most likely cause of this issue. We tried to lower the ride height but all our spanners didn't fit. I'll check with a mini specialist as he will probably have the right tools. Thanks guys.

Dude!!!
I even shedded a tear for you. That's horrid!

That's definitely not a great happening for the festive season.

Glad it's looking good again.

Thanks man, but if you are close to the car you can see that the bonnet and grille aren't quite right. Hopefully with a bit of fettling they'll look close to standard.

Your car is a beautiful example of what a mini should look like!

With that being said. I can completely sympathize with you when things are not done to your expectations.

It would help to do things on our own but alas this is not always the smartest option.

Please don't give up though... I aspire to have a clean mini like yours and red is my favourite colour.
