RE: Caesar the 1275 E - Diary of minor changes - Vinay-RS - 05-22-2016 So in the past week, I've gotten a second set of GTS clocks, (this set is in much better shape than the other one), a set of NOS black wiper arms ( ![]() I was also able to get a set of new pads for the calipers, so that is one step closer to being fitted ![]() I also visited Abri and he helped me reset the valve clearances, and it turns out I hadn't done a bad job, it's just that the shaft is worn and is going to need replacing soon(ish). Also I figure it is time to brave the elements and consider sorting out the gear selector, which is super floppy. I assume the parts to fix it aren't going to be cheap, but hopefully it will be a job I can tackle myself. Pictures to follow (when I take them) ![]() RE: Caesar the 1275 E - Diary of minor changes - Jared Mk3 - 05-22-2016 Pictures or it didn't happen! Haha, it did happen, my wallet became lighter ![]() RE: Caesar the 1275 E - Diary of minor changes - Vinay-RS - 05-25-2016 Got some bits from Doug that will sort out a couple of things that were wrong. Light switch and connector as that circuit was botched when I got the car, the throttle cable fitting was incorrect too and air box bolt broke a while back too. Oh and I got a metal air box ![]() RE: Caesar the 1275 E - Diary of minor changes - Jared Mk3 - 05-25-2016 Pictures of the nice bits, like the clocks and carpets ![]() RE: Caesar the 1275 E - Diary of minor changes - minitim - 05-26-2016 What are letters on the GTS rev counters you have? RVC or RVI? RE: Caesar the 1275 E - Diary of minor changes - Vinay-RS - 05-26-2016 Hi Tim, where does it say RVC or RVI? and what is the significance of the those letters? RE: Caesar the 1275 E - Diary of minor changes - minitim - 05-27-2016 On the face of the rev counter 6 o'clock position it will have RVI or RVC. RVI tachs are often called impulse tachs. They are wired in series with current flowing through the ignition coil. They do not actually "touch" the ignition system. A loop of wire (either inside the case or literally looped on the back) inductively couples current pulses flowing through the ignition system wiring to the "counting circuit" inside the tach. RVC tachs are a later, more modern design. They use a single sense wire connection to the "low side" of the ignition coil. They count the voltage swings between 0V and 12V each time points open and close. RE: Caesar the 1275 E - Diary of minor changes - Vinay-RS - 05-27-2016 Ah bugger, they both say RVI ![]() Thanks Tim. RE: Caesar the 1275 E - Diary of minor changes - Vinay-RS - 05-28-2016 Did some things today, gave Caesar a good wash and detailing. I also got around to fitting a new carb fast idle screw (old one had stripped) and the correct throttle cable fitting. Also fitted two NOS wipers that look mint ![]() Next up, the light switch. Need to get connectors from the electronic store (or our elec eng dept ![]() |
