I'll be preserving some of the patina, but there's a line between patina and too far gone or ugly.

Yeah I completely agree, plus since you're giving it a full restoration, that is even more special.

The front subby is now bare. What a mission! The driver's side rubber cone had so much dirt and rubbish inside it that I couldn't get the compressor tool screwed in. Eventually got it out.

How do the suspension and brake components look? I assume everything will be getting a full refurbish with new rubbers, joints and seals?

The rear suspension bits are OK. The front cones are shot, especially the driver's side one. All new rubbers, bearings, seals, ball joints etc. shall be going on.

The rear frame is almost completely free of grease and grime. There is so much sand - in all the cavities!
