Fuel Type - CAPotgieter - 09-30-2016

I'm busy with a 1972/1980 model. (Not 100% sure about the model).

I.t.o fuel, surely these old engines must still use LEADED/LRP fuel?
The engine seems to beĀ original.

Or must the head be done to make the change to unleaded fuel?

Thanks

Yip, our old engines must use LRP. The simple explanation is that unleaded causes more heat at the valve seats (due to the lack of any heavy metal in the fuel (lead)). this will over time cause damage, so if you filled up unleaded once by mistake, you should be fine.

To use unleaded, hardened valve seats must be fitted to the head.

Thanks a million.......

I use the Wynns stuff and it mixes into two tanks of fuel. So not bad in terms of extra cost per tank of fuel.
