Driving from JHB to PMB
#1

i know a few of you have done the trip from Gauteng down to KZN in a mini, would just like a few tips and pointers on how best to pull it off and is it advisable to do it during this time of year with the high temperatures.

TIA

I would advise you to just carry a bottle of water with you.
I had no problems driving down to KZN with my mini. Just had to stop at every petrol station to fill up.
Coming back to JHB I did have abit of heating problems so had constantly fill water.

if you know the Mini, and it runs reliabily, then, hop in and go.

Keep to 110 to 120 if its a std 1275e, 100 to 110 if its and 1100 (with 3.76 final drive)

every time i have done the trip (manys a time) i always had another car with me JUST IN CASE (with a two rope)

The only time i did the Johannesburg trip without a follow car, was with Paddy Helliker about 15 years ago.

His Clubbies alternator gave up on the way up Van Reeneens pass. we made it to 100 kays before Johannesburg when the battery finally died.
