Sumeet's 1975 Model 1098cc mini
#1
Ready....Set....Lets Go....

Ok... Here is some brief history on how this car came into my possession.

In 1998 my father was a middle income owner and looking for his first car...So we had heard that there is a "small little car" for sale in the neighbourhood (Tongaat - KZN) i at the time was only 12 (what the hell did i know about cars??? niks...nada...zilch)

So off we went to see this car and it was.....an apple green mini....sale price R4000.00 way too expensive for my old man at the time.

So along came my grandfather and purchased the car for my oldman. The car was in daily use right up until the year 2000 when we got news that there was another mini for sale a few houses away from my grandfathers home.

So off to Durban Drive-in (Sunday car sales) and we marked the car for R 5000.00 O.N.C.O (or nearest cash offer)...not too long into the day and along came a student with the cash and like that the green  mini was gone. (unfortunately no pictures it)

that same day we returned from the drive-in car sales and purchased the "new" blue mini for R4700.00

It belonged to a 60yr oldman who used it daily between Pinetown and Tongaat more or less 110kilometers return.
The body had all original trim including the Leyland Badges on the A-panels, original steering wheel and chrome bumpers... rust wise the floor had a little rust.
Mechanically sound (later on we learned it was running rich and the SU carb was " Faulty".
two years passed and in 2002 my oldman bought himself a toyota corrolla and so it was time to hand down the mini to my brother who had just finished school and used the car throughout his 2 years of campus and first years of work.

None the less....this car ran for 8 years from 2000-2008 un-molestered just being serviced with the odd drum brake tune, electrics and bits n bobs here and there needing attention which was done by Basheer (Avoca Hills)
Oh in 2003 it got a colour change Sad (was out of my hands)
....in 2004 i got my licence and took to the mini like Paddy Hopkirk  Tongue

So back in the day when selfie was non existent we had no pictures of the cars...but my brother managed to get a photo and destroy it with an edit all in 1 go.
excuse the edit of the mag wheels (stealth rims on a mini)

Taxi decided to nudge the car on the drivers side.

So this is how the car looked after the colour change in 2003

unfortunately with no shelter from the elements the body started to somewhat deteriorate  Sad

But i then had my first job in 2008 and in June sent the car to Basheer for some engine work

20thou rebore and and and...
