I wiped down the steering wheel with a wet cloth and then used some of that shield silicone spray on it. Worked quite well and seems to have lifted the colour a little. It's actually in really nice condition and looks super retro.

Yup, spoken to Andrew and Dennis about some good classic car interior specialists. I'll give them a call on Monday and get some quotes. Since they've already been re-covered before, I don't think there is any real loss of history in getting them redone.
