I made a start on the head swap this past weekend. I fitted some ARP head studs and a nice new Payen head gasket, but looks like I need some new push rods and cam followers - which means the engine is one extra step away from being fitted. Never rains, but it pours it seems.

Don't get bogged down dude. Your engine is looking really good and it sounds like all the components being fitted are the best available. It shall be a great motor when finished.

Love those billet aluminium parts from DSN retrosport. Would be so keen to get some for the Mini too.

This is the start of the addiction in terms of their alloy bits . . .

I finally had enough money to get some more parts. Brand new steering rack being the main feature. Can also finally finish off the head job. The motor is nearly ready to go back in :

I finally made some headway with this car. I fitted a new rear main seal, lapped the flywheel onto the crank and then fitted a new clutch kit. Torqued everything up and fitted the cover with the new DSN bolts. Also completed the head swap, with new push rods. Torqued up and tappet gaps set.

Also placed the carbs onto the motor to get an idea of what it'll look like :

That engine really looks FANTASTIC Jared!

Just noticed that you have exactly the same tappet cover as me? It the only other one I have seen that's exactly the same....Do you know anything about the origin of yours? Did it come with the motor?

Thank you Smile

I swapped another alloy cover for this one. It's a Motortune item if I remember correctly. That's about all I know unfortunately.
