Original 1275GT Rebuild
(02-19-2018, 08:20 AM)DomMINIque Wrote: Did you have these frames blasted before hand?

I had the front one blasted as there was rust damage from brake fluid spilling in the past. Really made a difference to the prep work.

Received a new Heritage battery box today, along with a new seam strip and clips. I've also sourced a parcel shelf that will be used to fix the speaker holes that were cut into the current one.

It's been a while without doing work on this car, but it'll finally get an update. Some parts were recently purchased to rebuild the front frame entirely. The car will be getting all new bearings, bushes, joints etc.

I'll hopefully make a start this week on the hubs and calipers, but in the mean time, I got the calipers stripped and split :

I got the calipers cleaned up and ready for paint. Good soak in vinegar and petrol, followed by a wire brush got them nice and clean. They should be rebuilt this week.

I also got the hubs built up. Just a few touch ups on the paint, but otherwise they're good to go.

Had some free time at work today, so I assembled the calipers with new seals, pistons, washers etc. Couple of touch ups on the black and they're good to go :

Received the last few bits that are needed for the front subframe. Now to find the time to get it all done :

Admittedly, the shell has been with the body shop for a while, but that's ok. I went to check up on progress today and I'm rather happy with what I'm seeing. The speaker holes have been closed up with the donor panel I sourced - can't even tel they were there. The battery box has been fitted, so there is now no rust on the car. The exterior is basically ready for final prep to get some primer, but focus has shifted to the interior and engine bay.
