Subframe paint

My subframes are in the process of being sandblasted and primed in red oxide. I want to spray them black at home using an aerosol. I've heard a couple of brands and paint types being thrown around - quick dry "QD" enamel and hammerite seem popular, although the only QD enamel I've seen on the shelves says that it is for use on engines.

Has anyone used any specific products that they've had good results with in terms of longevity and finish?

I don't see why you can't use that engine enamel on the subframe. It would provide a rather strong surface.

I used smooth black hammerite on my subframes...

Expensive though.
