  Close Ratio gearbox / GTS
Posted by: Sean1380 - 09-14-2015, 04:29 PM - Forum: Wanted - Mini Related - Replies (1)

Hi all

Battling with the long 1275E ratios (3rd to 4th being the main culprit) up here in Johannesburg.

Want a close ratio box, GTS would be a good starting point, failing that its importing a new Straight Cut Close Ratio kit from the UK.

Thanks

Sean

A really vrot thermostat housing

So he two biggest issues with the blue car are obviously all the rust and then I am convinced that the previous owner must have been annoyed at his wife one day and decided to take it out on the mini's wiring. He cut the whole section of wiring that feeds into the dash area completely out so I'm left with a loom that is missing about 30cm.

So I've been saving for a uk order and with a consistently weakening pound the more I save the same amount of stuff I can buy...

Then I came across this whose wiring is in tact and so is the shell.

However she is missing an interior and after getting her home and having a look around a few other things too...

Some funky aftermarket dash but all VDO gauges - rev counter, voltmeter, ammeter and thermostat.

Now this is where some people may freak out however there are ways and means around this...
No chassis tags - do not fear I've checked on the eNatis system and it can be re-registered, so just need to get myself some new chassis tags.

Another bad bonnet... it seems I can't get away from these things.

Hello there,

Apparently I was born to be around minis - Dominique hence the account name.

Some pics of what I've gotten myself into over the last 18 months.

My first:

She's older than both my parents being a '72

Hi there,

My first car was a 1100 clubman back in '98, and have owned about 14 other cars since then, but the car I always missed the most, was my mini.

So this year I decided to get me one again... Smile

Cheers,
Fanie.

  What size wheel arches
Posted by: Boyscout - 09-11-2015, 02:07 PM - Forum: Technical Queries / Questions - Classic Mini - Replies (12)

Hi all,

So since I fitted the new alloys, the wheels have been sticking out a bit much. I did the VW brake conversion on front and only spaced the wheels out by 12mm. Also took off the rear spacered drums and put on std drums with 12mm spacer. This is the absolute minimum you can space without hitting the caliper and also to keep the wheel nuts from binding on the longer wheel studs. I have the std plastic wheel arches fitted but the wheels still stick out by 30 odd mm.

I would like to know what the width of the other wheel arches Group 7 etc, are when measured in the top middle.

Maybe Sean can give an idea?

sold Sold - New GTS disks, drive flanges and calipers
Posted by: Sean1380 - 09-11-2015, 01:52 PM - Forum: For Sale - Mini related - Replies (4)

Hi all

As the advert states.

These were fitted to my 20v project but i recently got hold of set of Mini Spares 4 pot calipers and Vented disks and drive flanges, so this little lot is up for grabs.

NEW 8.4" disks (for 12 or 13 inch wheels)
NEW drive flanges
Fully reconditioned Rover Cooper calipers, sprayed VHT Caliper yellow (come with the remains of the spray can)
NEW EBC fast road brake pads.

I am after R4,900 for this lot.

If the new buyer needs hubs, i can arrange for about R1,00 for a pair.

Thanks

Sean
