Bodywork - Grant - 10-21-2015 Can anyone recommend any decent bodywork specialists - sand blasting; shell prepping; spraying; subframe powder coating, etc. I am trying to decide how much of the bodywork restoration I want to try my hand at vs what I will leave to the professionals. I thought it would be a good idea to try choose a bodywork place to work with and get them involved during the early stages on advising what parts of the job I might be able to do eg stripping the car down to its shell, maybe to bare metal, etc. RE: Bodywork - Sean1380 - 10-22-2015 What area Grant ? RE: Bodywork - minatic - 10-22-2015 If you are in JHB area there is a guy that does Soda-blasting and sand blasting. He has done several Mini's already. He normally soda-blasts the body and on the undercarriage he will sand blast. All up to you what you want to do. he will also do sub-frames as well. He is based not to far from Mini Work Shop in Benoni. His name is Terence Norsemen and his number is 083 331 0191. RE: Bodywork - Grant - 10-22-2015 Thanks Sean I guess area would be useful - I'm in JHB, close to Houghton. Thanks Miniatic I will give him a call to get the ball rolling. RE: Bodywork - Leykor - 11-12-2015 Hi, Just an update, I called Terence and he no longer does blasting. We need to find a new guy. RE: Bodywork - Sooper - 02-02-2016 any kzn suggestions? RE: Bodywork - Miniac - 02-03-2016 Brendon Milne in Westville and I think Trens in Pmb just did Dougs Mazda MX5, he also built Tonys turbo motor and has the metallic blue bullnose that joined us for Cars In The Park RE: Bodywork - Sean1380 - 02-03-2016 Brendon milne get my vote. 084 5 87 89 39 RE: Bodywork - Sooper - 02-03-2016 these are 35-40k jobs though? at 4 cars to be done its just not feasible for me, RE: Bodywork - minatic - 02-03-2016 In my opinion if you want quality work that is going to last you and it will be guaranteed will pay for it. If you want shitty work done and quick patch to look good then you will pay low R4k -R7k. If you are going to keep it for yourself do it properly but if you going to flip it then go cheap. That is why when a guy that is selling car which has been sprayed recently I try to stay away from. You dont know what is hiding under the paint. |
