I sprayed my stone chip on with a stone chip gun, comes out nice and blotchy, probably thicker than a roll on or brush on application. I think it depends on the consistency of the product.

What make ststone chip was it?
What size nozzle did you use? I take it it simmilar to a spary gun?

Not sure if the stonechip is still available, but Wurth also do a good product. Best is to speak to your local paint supplier
