That looks like an Apache or old Morris/Austin 1300 GT air box adapter

@Jimmy. I didn't directly no. Bought it as a "kit" turbo, intercooler, carb and a few other bits. But based on what I've seen it must have been because I've got a complete right side and half a left side (just the body).
The jetting that is also currently in it also seems more suited for a beetle based on the twin dellorto set up.

Bought a set of twins a while back so thought I'd take them apart and clean them to determine whether they could just be used in the interim while I wait for Dellorto spares.

They appear to be in reasonable condition. However they have EB needles in and a "brown" spring which isn't actually a colour.
Also semi stuck with air filter options for this set up as well.
So it seems I'm somewhat back to square one with half a clean set of twins...
Hi,

That manifold as it happens is from a MG midget 1100, slanted at 10 degrees instead of the correct mini angle of 30 degrees, I know there is a way to make it work but it involves moving the float bowl angles. Might explain the strange needle choice and "brown" spring. Air filter adaptor not Midget though, maybe ADO16 Austin?

RE: Frankenstein - jimmyjamjar - 04-26-2018

won't two Samota 'mini' filters fit?

RE: Frankenstein - DomMINIque - 04-26-2018

Thanks for the info Cooper.
I'll finish cleaning the other carb and place it on the head to check that the float bowls are straight/level.

But if that is the case then I suppose down draft here we come...

And also check whether you will get clearance on whatever air filter you intend to use, I think that a standard double GTS/S filter box wont work/fit

Might need to use two pancake filters

Below is the summary of part numbers of mini twin manifolds FYI

It is a mini master cylinder. Just a replacement item as mine was leaking.
You can still purchase the tin ones however they are double the price...

I think I'm going to reassemble the carbs and bolt them to the manifold and see what angle the float chambers sit at.
And then go from there.

Had a quick look on the uk forum and you get the grommets which change the angle.
Now I must just figure out whether it's the float bowl angle that needs to change or the manifold.

Once I've done that then I'll assess filter options but I'm leaning towards two separate pancakes to alleviate some of the frustration in theory...

RE: Frankenstein - Sean1380 - 05-03-2018

And its because he fitted the master cylinder frack to bunt that makes it look odd :-)

RE: Frankenstein - DomMINIque - 05-03-2018

So they are straight.  Big Grin

But I'm going to put the order through for the dellorto peices. Big Grin

RE: Frankenstein - Vinay-RS - 05-04-2018

You've got a lot of carb options. The twins are a nice option, especially if they are in running condition.

RE: Frankenstein - DomMINIque - 08-11-2018

Didn't take any pictures today.

But I found a HS4 jet when I was sorting through all my mini things in preparation for the other two minis to be collected.

Fixed the leaking HS4 which I had on my clubby. And Back it went on.

The approach is now to get this car back on the road and running reliably where it is a joy and absolute pleasure to drive.

In October it will be 2 years since jacaranda run where it all fell apart....
