Heritage Ceritficates

Not too sure which sub-forum would be best for this, so if the Mods think it's better elsewhere then please move it.

Has anyone got any experience with the British Heritage Motor Centre and their Heritage Certificates? I'm considering getting one when the exchange rate improves and I have some money (so it may never happen). I'm trying to find out if guys who've got them feel that they're worth the money - at 42 Pounds they're not cheap, and I don't want to spend the money only to find that they don't have any useful information on my car.

Also which option did you go with? There's a simple Dating Letter, a Dating letter with technical specs, a Heritage Certificate, and a Heritage certificate with technical specs (for 73 pounds!).

I'm planning on going this route with my Cooper but my biggest concern is that minis in SA were generally supplied to Blackheath in CKD form, meaning that the UK might not have access to the exact or full spec of our locally assembled minis.

I'd be a lot happier if I knew exactly what information I was going to get for my money. I suppose for the Brits, it's easily affordable, but it's a lot of money for me.

Colin,

I have successfully used their 'Web research request' option once before:

http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/s...quest.html

you have to nominate a single piece of information that you want for 6 pounds, I see they have the original colour as one of those options.

Well worth a try before you buy a full certificate, maybe even ask in the 'enquiry detail' section of the form whether they can confirm that the information is complete for your vehicle before you buy the full certificate.

They replied by e-mail within 48 hours and the guy who sent the mail was able to answer one additional question without additional charge.

regards,

Craig

CKD kits were tracked by chassis number and they have no record of which engine and chassis ended up together. I haven't investigated a car that was not sent as CKD, so the story there might be different. It might be worthwhile contacting them to find out what they can provide before forking out the cash.
