It really isn't pleasant at all. Have to get rid of it before paint.

That they are. Just need to go over them with a wire wheel etc. to get the surface rust off and they'll be good to go.

I realise the updates seem pointless, but I do it to keep a record of exactly when things were done, even if they're small jobs.

Finally managed to get the hubs dismantled completely today. Knocked the bearing races out; got the balljoints off and removed the steering arms :

Made a start on the lower suspension arms as well. Filed away the rough edges from the casting.

Also, I had a look at the upper suspension arms and might need to replace the LHS one due to excessive wear from the knuckle going through the nylon cup.

The hubs and lower arms are now clean :
