So I've been trying to get a mini running and then this one cropped up for sale.

So I went and had a look at it and it needs a few things done to it as most minis do.
But was not too far from driving conditions.

So when I went to have a look at it, it would start but then would suddenly die. It sounded like the motor was being flooded.
There was also fuel spraying out the float bowl of the carb.

There is also a bit of a snag list but I'll sort it out while it's on the road.

The lack of a dashboard:

Had a look at the carb and what was going on there. Seems fuel is spraying out the breather hole. Don't think the float system is working correctly.

Dashpot on this carb was also loose, so took the carb off and it will go through a good clean.

Swopped it with another carb I have and this was the result:

Took the car around the block, very fun driving a mini. Not so sure about the 13" wheels especially after driving sooper early estate with 10" wheels and a comfy ride.

But we'll see how things progress.

Looks like a nice solid clubby there Dom, the paintwork and interior look in good shape. What are the specs of the motor and will you be ditching those not so nice looking wheels for something cooler?

Yea floor are in good shape Vinay was one of the first things I looked at.

The interior has just been redone. Was fetched from the upholsters the day before I fetched the car.
The entire inside has been coated with this thick sound proofing stuff. But for now it will stay.

Motor for now I think is an 1100, with an 11 stud head, still debatable whether or not it's got double valve springs.
Think it's pretty much standard to be honest.

As for the paintwork, the drivers side fender could do with a respray but for now it'll stay.

Thanks Jared. I was going to compare it to yours and Quinton's but then I changed my mind.

As for the wheels Vinay, I want to go back to 10s and there is a set I've got my eye on, there is also a set of carbs that I have my eye on it's just timing at the moment that is all wrong.

So we'll see how it goes.

I'm guessing if you decided to, it would be possible to modify the head with double valve springs and bigger exhaust valves.

nice buy Dom, looks like you got a good deal there for the price and im sure you can get some bucks back on the sale of rims and tyres. reminds me a lot of my 1st clubby and i actually had a clubby like this in same color. 1100 motors are great for a daily driver.

So I wasn't really a fan of the 13" wheels so I got myself this set:

Think it looks much better on these than it did on the other set. 

Figured I'd test how many of the bumper mounted fogs actually work and quite surprisingly just one that doesn't work...

Took it out for a spin on the new wheels but the standard mini temp gauge always went into the red. Not knowing quite what was happening there I thought it was best to wire in the VDO gauge I had lying around to give me a more accurate measurement on what was actually going on. 

After a drive around the block, this was the temp:

Stays there constantly unless parked. Then rises to about 88 deg or so and then the fan mounted to the uno rad comes on and bring the temps back down again. 
So I'm happy with the temp. 
Also had a VDO rev counter lying around so thought for now I'll wire it in to see what the motor is doing. 
I also need to finish setting the fueling (I think it is almost as good as I can get it without an AFR gauge)
Then might consider adjusting the timing but don't think this is necessary aas the car seems to be running strong. 

Temporarily held in place by some JDM styling until I get a chance to build a decent dash for the car.

Brakes need to bled and side mirrors need to be put on are the next two things that NEED to be done. 

Was going to do the brakes this morning but then went looking for brake fluid in the garage and.... nothing so that will have to wait now.

The 10" wheels make a BIG difference to the look - so much better.

Good to see you making some good progress on this build dude. I agree with Jared, the 10" wheels just suit the car perfectly.
