Think it will literally self destruct....Hi, That manifold as it happens is from a MG midget 1100, slanted at 10 degrees instead of the correct mini angle of 30 degrees, I know there is a way to make it work but it involves moving the float bowl angles. Might explain the strange needle choice and "brown" spring. Air filter adaptor not Midget though, maybe ADO16 Austin?

won't two Samota 'mini' filters fit?

Thanks for the info Cooper.
I'll finish cleaning the other carb and place it on the head to check that the float bowls are straight/level. But if that is the case then I suppose down draft here we come...

And also check whether you will get clearance on whatever air filter you intend to use, I think that a standard double GTS/S filter box wont work/fit Might need to use two pancake filters Below is the summary of part numbers of mini twin manifolds FYI

You can still purchase the tin ones however they are double the price... (04-26-2018, 10:51 AM)Cooper1275 Wrote:(04-26-2018, 10:26 AM)DomMINIque Wrote: Thanks for the info Cooper. Thanks for that info Cooper. I think I'm going to reassemble the carbs and bolt them to the manifold and see what angle the float chambers sit at. And then go from there. Had a quick look on the uk forum and you get the grommets which change the angle. Now I must just figure out whether it's the float bowl angle that needs to change or the manifold. Once I've done that then I'll assess filter options but I'm leaning towards two separate pancakes to alleviate some of the frustration in theory...

And its because he fitted the master cylinder frack to bunt that makes it look odd :-)

You've got a lot of carb options. The twins are a nice option, especially if they are in running condition.

Didn't take any pictures today.
But I found a HS4 jet when I was sorting through all my mini things in preparation for the other two minis to be collected. Fixed the leaking HS4 which I had on my clubby. And Back it went on. The approach is now to get this car back on the road and running reliably where it is a joy and absolute pleasure to drive. In October it will be 2 years since jacaranda run where it all fell apart.... |
