I wouldn't worry to much about it, replacement floor panels are now locally available at fairly decent prices.

Yea replacement panels are around but that wasn't the idea with this mini.

I know Dez/sports car centre both had but at the old exhange rate they wre already around R700 for a single floor panel.

I'll carry on and deal with the floor if it really becomes an issue at a later point.

Buy the tool to make those bends and rolled lips and buy new pipe and do the lines over from scratch.

I did that with my first mini, bought the flare and reverse flare tool and made up my own brake lines. Although in the end I landed up getting a hydraulic company to do them for me on my minis after that as they literally copy it bend for bend for you saving a lot of frustration.

For the brakes lines don't take a chance. Just re-make them. You need 2 6m lengths of 'Bundy' tubing, a pipe cutter from Mica, and if you want a tube bender also from Mica. Don't bother buying a flaring kit - the typical Adendorf one isn't good enough for brake lines. (works great on copper pipes though) When you have them sized up take them to a brake or hydraulics place for the flaring and new fittings e.g Norbrake in Top road Boksburg. Don't bend too close though, they need about 50mm to grip with the flaring tool. They will sell you a new t piece as well. I just used the hydraulic switch as a connector and put a Midas electric switch behind the pedal. There are some holes in the pedal box as if made for it.

Got myself a new brake line made from The Hydrualic Centre in Turffontein (Jhb South). Haven't yet installed it though.

Put the bootlid of the black mini back on with the lock so that the rain can stop getting into the boot.

We finished the carport at home over the weekend and then had to move both motor/subframe combinations and the two shells.
Holy sh*t but they aren't as light as you'd think.

I definitely need to find an easier way way to move the motors around on their subframes otherwise they'll both have to go into pieces and be rebuilt.
I've got just under two months to either find a way to move them or strip them both as the carport floor will be tarred early next year.

I'll post some pictures in the next few days.

What we did with one of my builds was to make trolleys to cart the motor and frame around on, all we did was took a wooden half pallet and some big dolly wheels and bolted them together and then put a pair of old 10" tyre on the pallet and the frame with motor on top of that, it worked like a charm on solid flat surfaces like tar and decently laid paving stones but tended to dig in on dirt and grass due to the weight of the motor/frame combination.

Try what Ed said, that's a really good idea. Otherwise, taking the motor off the frame isn't so bad. Easier to do out the car, than in.

I forgot to mention that we also rachet strapped the motor and frame to the pallet to avoid the motor rocking and pulling itself off of the pallet while being moved around.

I looked at doing something similar to that Ed. my current challenge is that it is currently grass and needs to be moved out the way for the tar to be put down.

I however think that it's my best bet if I can find some rugged and large enough dolly wheels that may be able to stand up to the weight/grass combination.

My photobucket seems to also be on the blink, got multiples of all photos uploaded and the app on my phone keeps telling me the photos have failed to upload.
Nevertheless here are some photos any way.

This motor fell forward when we were moving it, I just ran out of strength and the whole thing topple forward. Broke the distributor cap, bent the cr@p out of the oil filter, and oil came leaking out the top of the rocker cover.
Given this I think it's now not a bad idea to strip it all anyways as who knows what all that oil has done to the gaskets and the like on the top of the motor.

And that's pretty much it for the rest of the year. Don't think there'll be much progress in Jan either as I have a board exam at the end of Jan. Then it's the start of my work career which means my weekends now become my own again.
