Also has a dead spot under accelleration and is heavy on fuel - going need some TLC - (Clocks show 980744 kms!)

A good service and perhaps a carb service might sort out most of those issues. That's a lot of kilometres for a car. Are you sure it's not 98074.4 km? The last digit is 1/10th of a kilometre.

Yip you right did not put the digit in the number - the current reading is 98184.4/5 (the 10th is now between 0.4 and 0.5 LOL - not sure how many times it must have returned to zero over its 35 year life span I think a good service and carb overall will indeed solve the issues - misfire under load (going up hill) and/or acceleration is getting worse now

Welcome !. I too am a 1983 1275 owner. You need o get some arches for those fat tackies.Is your grill chromed or sprayed?
