I'm going to start from where the car is now. There has been some tragedy since my last post on any forum. That tragedy came in the form of a blue Corolla driven by a client. She reversed into my parked car  not major damage but enough to be upsetting especially because her car didn't even have a scratch. Other wise the only change is that I have been allowed by my awesome bother, to have temporary use of some force splits I think they suit my car better and that i should be given them... hint hint.   It does need a respray as the clear coat is peeling which is annoying. 

Some of you will know the car was/is/isn't/undecided up for sale. If i can make a plan for an everyday car then it'll stay. SO all deposits into the "save the monster fund" will be accepted into my account (PM me for acc details) JOKES   Hopefully I wont be selling any time soon.

Those rims are seriously cool! And they look stunning on this clubby. I just love the way your clubby sits. It looks really mean.

Just out of interest, has anyone else had experience with both Dunlop r7's and Yokohama A008's?

I've found the Dunlops give much better grip both wet and dry, right from cold till they warm up. Where the Yokohamas just break traction. I don't know whether its the compound, the age of the tires or they are more worn than the Dunlops but I can't put the power down the same.


Any information will be appreciated.

Aren't the Dunlop R7s made from a softer compound than the A008s, since they are road-race tyres. So surely one would expect them to provide a little more grip? The tread pattern on the R7s does look really nice as well, though if you drive spiritedly (as one would with a Toyota powered clubby), they apparently wear out a lot faster.

Dunlop are a softer compound but Ince the yokis come up to temp they should perform exceedingly well.

Don't get me wrong, the yoki's are still good, I just prefer the grip from the Dunlops. Even when they are at temp they still dont have the same bite. Other wise I wouldn't complain, its probably just because I want to put as much power down as possible.

Those Yokis on my old Force rims are probably WELL over 5 years old - check date stamp on them, think they are 09 tyres.

Yokis are a harder compound that the R7's so the will outlast them BIG time.

R7's do grip well - but i ran a set in 6,000 kays flat

It could be the age but possibly also the fact that in this car you tend to notice the slightest difference in the grip.

In terms of the mileage factor I'm a bit nervous to find out how little the R7's will give on the front. I'm considering having yoki's on the back and either R7's or D93J's on the front for the best of both worlds. I don't foresee any problems with that but only time will tell.
