I am restoring a South African 1962 Austin Mini 850. My question relates to the bootlid. Should it be single or double-skinned?
Currently I have a double-skinned boot, but I think it was replaced at some point and want to make sure the car is restored to original spec.

I've had my engine rebuilt to 1330 with a high torque cam, will be using an HIF44 carb - car will be for road and occasional track day use. The engine has yet to be fired up.

I was set on going with the Facet Fast Road Solid State pump on Minispares (4.5-5psi/ 18 gallons per hour) (part no ss502) but once I started googling it seems this might be too high pressure and i might be better off with the "standard" facet (2.5-3psi/ 12 gallons per hour)(part number SS501).

Has anyone had any success with any of the locally available elec fuel pumps that they would recommend?

I recently bought a Classic mini body that the floor from the handbrake going forward to the bulkhead including sills has been removed without any bracing.Any ideas on how to go about bracing it before i weld in the floor.Also i will be changing the front from Classic to a a club man.Any ideas on the bracing will be of great help.

When I turn the key The engine cranks over and smoke comes out of the breather and the car back fires. 

I've checked spark and each spark plug has spark. 

The petrol pump works as I can see in the lines that fuel flows. 

I've saw that they say it should be that the dizzy dog gear could be 180 deg wrong and I tried to rotate it 180 deg and it doesn't want to go install that way so it is in the only way it fits in naturally.

My coil gets Hot is that normal?

What could it be?
