Mini Trailer
#1
Hi,

So I've been thinking of an alternative use for my mk1 shell and I have seen a few pictures of mini trailers like:

Some have made them short and others long. Some I believe have reused the roof to make a solid top trailer.

Has anyone in SA tried this? any suggestions on size/length? hard top vs soft top?

More importantly is it just a case of mark, cut and weld close and weld on a tow attachment to the rear sub-frame?

I'm thinking it will be a great way to practice my non existent welding/fabrication skills.

The Mk1 shell is a quite rough around the edges.

The only hope for it, in its present condition, would be a full sandblast and restore. I do not have that type of money at the moment. coupled with pressure from the missus to get my projects under control I need to start doing something with it.

And come on... how cute are those trailers?

I would take that mk1 if I lived in Jhb. Too good to cut up and make a trailer.

I have a mate in the UK who would love it.

Let me see how the weekend goes Umar - Maybe Sunday after the Jacaranda run ?
