Looking For An SA Mini Moke
Posted by: mk1 - 05-25-2017, 04:47 PM - Forum: Wanted - Mini Related - Replies (1)

I'm looking for an SA or Rhodesian Mini Moke.

Pretty much anything considered, but will pay good money for a nice one.

I'm in the UK, but can arrange collection & delivery.

Please feel free to contact me if you have anything to offer, either by PM or on mark@ecsleeds.com

Thanks,

Mark Forster

Hi,

I'm new to this (although I have the benefit of an Engineer father who owned many mini's back in the day).

I'd like to get a reasonable expectation of what it will cost me to buy and restore a mini 1275 (even better if I can find a GTS).
I'm assuming I can buy for around 30k... but parts are a big ? and normal labour would be free as I'd work on it with my dad.
Is it realistic to expect a decent build and refurb for under 100k?

I'm not looking for any Huyabusa engines or crazy conversions (other than a disc brake conversion), and would be happy to use reasonable replacement parts where genuine parts are too hard to find or too expensive. That being said I'd like to keep it mostly original.

Would love to hear from those of you who've actually done it.

Registration as a built-up? is this easier?
Posted by: Giancarl03 - 05-24-2017, 09:16 AM - Forum: General Chit Chat - Replies (5)

So the Mini I bought does not have papers and has been deregistered. It is is till on someone's name but tracing this person back is impossible. I am left with two choices now either go through the process as given by Abri in his post where I will have to pay the arrear license fees or, the other alternative, try and register it is as a built up car from various parts.

Has anyone tried the "registering from different parts" method?

So I took the plunge and committed myself to one of these understated classics. I went to pick it up about two weeks ago with the biggest headache at the moment being the paperwork.

I reside in Cape Town so I am looking forward to meet other Mini enthusiasts and share the passion. This is it... It has some work to do but I think (I hope) I've worked out my budget correctly for the next couple of months.

  13" wheel modification
Posted by: jimmyjamjar - 05-21-2017, 04:34 PM - Forum: Technical Queries / Questions - Classic Mini - Replies (1)

Hi All!
I am about to get tyres for the 13" Minilites my son gave me as a present, no doubt to try and get me moving on the restauration. My query is ! I know I have to cut the front wheel arches so the wheels won't foul the wing  (got the templates) but will I need to fit spacers as well?  on the front and back? if so what thickness will I need and how long must the studs be. The rims are 13" by 51/2.

  wiring loom colours
Posted by: jimmyjamjar - 05-03-2017, 07:17 PM - Forum: General Chit Chat - Replies (2)

hi guys
I want to know what wiring diagram to use for my 1275E model. Heynes and iInter Europ don't have one for SA . Does one use the British or Australian diagram ? or is there one for SA somewhere? I have a  complete loom from one of the mini's I owned but without a diagram it will be a mission (given my splendid ignorance of things car electrical) trying to put the loom in properly and connect the right wires to the right bits. Any advice welcome - thanx
