Maybe that'syour issue. The hs4 would definetly over fuel a 1000cc.
Maybe post a pic of the carb and we can see if it is actually an hs4.
It always ran 100% fine without smoking at all! The car has been standing for quite some time, and carb has needed an overhaul for years.
Will take a pic quick, but am sure it's an HS4.
