In progress is:

b. Clubman Estate - To go Toyota 16V turbo.
c. 1975 Mk2 - To go 1312 A-Plus fuel injection (S.P.I)

Will post them under separate threads namely:

b. Dejavu Estate
c. Dejavu Mk2 75

Good day all

Can anyone recommend a good place to get my mini sandblasted and sprayed? I want a high quality job.

I have spoken to them and have an unofficial quote from Sandblasting Boys. Sandblasting and prime:R4500.00 Spray will be about R11000.00

  Pre verto clutch

Hi

The "biting" point of the clutch is against the floor. The first thing I notice was that the lock nut for adjustment was missing.

I have now screwed in a lock nut. If understand correctly to set the biting point higher I have to screw out the throwout stop nuts first. I must then pull the arm away from the engine, loosen the lock nut and unscrew it until it contacts the arm. Then I must screw it back 0,1mm. My problem is that the arm only move about 3mm if I pull it back by hand. Is it suppose to have so little movement.

Regards

Corno

2017-09-30 - CTMOC - Whales and Wheels Car Show - Hermanus
Posted by: Vinay-RS - 10-01-2017, 01:22 PM - Forum: Events for Cape Town - C P T M O C - Replies (1)

The annual Whales and Wheels Car Show was held this past Saturday. Unlike last year we had a really good turnout of Minis (including a race car!), with 2 Minis from the Hermanus Mini club also making an appearance. It was a really fun day out with a lovely drive to Hermanus and a rather traffic filled (30 min in start/stop traffic) return trip back to Cape Town.

Pictures to follow soon. Photo credits - Tim, Abri, Jurgens, Vinay.

Sad Some get restored, some die
Posted by: u09521 - 09-29-2017, 07:07 PM - Forum: General Chit Chat - Replies (13)

Sad day today.
Red light jumper.
Hopefully can salvage the 47wkW motor and some other bits.
Will see - need to bend stuff to get into the bonnet but can't yet with broken sternum (at least I mounted the seatbelt well)

Might be in the market for a good bakkie body?

  Finally got something!

Greetings folks.

Time to stop lurking and start posting more.
I yesterday closed the deal on a small, yellow 1100 Clubman ( https://i.imgur.com/zN9EFLE.jpg ).
I cannot remember it's age or much else about it's history other than I'm the 3rd owner, yesterday is a bit of a blur.

So I actually went to go look at a 1275, but there was more work left on it than I had money for. Fortunately for me, the guy had a second mini he bought off his supervisor (original owner), and then finally settled for me taking that off his hands.

Now comes the tricky part for me;
-The brakes are terrible (got a master cylinder brake repair kit with). I'll upgrade to disks in future.
-It's not gone through roadworthy in recent years.
-I'm told the license is paid but not issued because of road worthy certificate is missing (But I do have the papers and 1 plate on the back)
-The entire engine bay is coated in soot and petrol from a hole in the exhaust somewhere, suspected the manifold from a flexing engine and many years of use.
-Interior needs to be addressed, but no rust on the floor pan
-Aged window rubbers, probably needs replacing after a respray
-Surface rust in multiple places, so I'm hoping to get a quote on having it sanded, treated and resprayed.
-Might have to replace the bonnet, the left side (facing the car) is very rusted
-It has a racing steering wheel, I'll probably swap that out as well.

My plans/priority order:
-Fix brakes
-Get it through roadworthy and apply new license plates (and pray that the license actually has been paid for)
-Get insurance and a tracker
-use it until I get time to take the engine and seats out, have everything cleaned off and the shell given rust treatment and a fresh coat of paint.

I'll take some more pictures tonight after work and upload tomorrow morning.

The decision was made 8 years later to restart the rebuild. I decided to do a complete rebuild (excluding sub-frames).

I'm about a month in and car is 99% stripped.

Currently
1. Sanding the body down
2. Stripping the engine
3. Various parts have been sent to be quoted on for powder coating
4. Head is in for evaluation
5. Spares list saved in basket (but been updated daily) on minispares.com website - very costly
