  Engine number decoder
Posted by: admin - 10-06-2015, 02:02 PM - Forum: Technical Downloads - No Replies

Some information from the old forum (original poster: MINIMAL):

Quote:Whilst mucking around I found the next link to clarify classic Mini engines types by the engine No. however it only works if it is a engine made in the UK or so it seems as my local engine No does not work but the 3 A+ engines I have do.

http://www.guess-works.com/Tech/engine.htm

U simply fill in the data and U know what engine it is, what year it was made and even what the original gearbox and final drive was.

  SU Needle Comparison Site
Posted by: admin - 10-06-2015, 01:59 PM - Forum: Technical Downloads - No Replies

Some information from the old forum (original poster: minitim):

Quote:Handy site for comparing different SU needles, and plotting them on a chart.

What is nice, is that you can see the size of the needle when dividing it into 16 different stages, thus enabling you to polish your needle to a different needle profile

  For Sale - RULES
Posted by: admin - 10-06-2015, 01:44 PM - Forum: For Sale - Mini related - Replies (2)

Hi Guys,

As per our last forum, same rules apply:

Quote:1) To stop this from becoming an auction site. "Make me an offer" is not how most car forums want their members to sell stuff, and i want us to follow suite.

2) I'm going to ask you to please put prices on ALL your for sale ads, even if it's only a guestimate or a negotiable. So please, put prices on your adverts.

3) Mark your topics "SOLD" when you have physically sold the goods in question.

If these simple rules are NOT followed, then the admin WILL delete the advert.

Help me resolve my Mk1's issues... Again!
Posted by: alfaquad - 10-05-2015, 11:06 AM - Forum: Technical Queries / Questions - Classic Mini - Replies (13)

Hi there guys!

So as the plan is to get the car up and running so I can actually drive it often again.

The car refuses to start. It was running perfectly fine after I installed an electronic ignition kit from Velleman (like this Velleman Ignition Kit)

Then it just stopped working altogether. I went the Velleman route after I could not get it to start with the standard setup. But now the Velleman is also dead, so trying standard again. I've replaced the points, gapped it correctly, wiring is done right and there is spark at the points but not at the spark plugs it seems. The car ran with no issue, started first time whole time.

Please help me trace the issue!

Also, I found this site online and am wondering if anyone has ever dealt with them and if the prices are good? Classic Mini Shop

I am in need of outer CVs for my car. Also need to see if my clutch master cylinder just needs seals replaced or if I need a new master cylinder. I need to sort out the wiring on my car as it's a real mess. Then new tyres and I'm good to go again!

1275 Engine and Brakes for Sale
Posted by: Sooper - 10-05-2015, 10:38 AM - Forum: For Sale - Mini related - Replies (15)

Hi guys, Im stripping this mini up to be sold as parts, there a 1275 motor, oil still looks good in it, comes with gearbox, starter, alternator and radiator, no carb and im keeping tappet cover unless I get a very good offer for it. Motor complete R4500 neg

the complete disc brake system is also for sale, im not sure if its 7.5/8.4 as the calipers are currently touching the wheel but il get them off and measure it up, this system would probably need a refurb but person who buys can have it complete R3000

lastly all the remaining bits that can be salvaged will be sold of, ideally id like the complete shell gone but its not really in any salvageable condition, il prob only keep the windscreen and Rui has 1st dibs on front bumper.

Let me know if you keen, I need cash urgently so id like everything gone by the end of the month.

Regards

Hi there,

I've been a lover of Minis for as long as I remember, and I insisted on having a Mini Mk1 as my first car. I bought my '66 Austin Mini 1000 Mk1 in 2003 and then rebuilt it entirely in 2004. While this was happening, I stumbled upon a '74 Mini 1100 De Luxe which I bought for almost nothing, and I drove it for over a year as my daily. I sold it when the Mk1's rebuild was complete.

I need to sort out a few things on my Mk1 so I can drive it more often again. This will be done shortly.

I'm a massive petrolhead and a photographer by profession and have owned my fair share of Alfas, starting with a 145 2.0 Quadrifoglio, then a modern GTV 3.0 V6, then a 147 2.0 TS. I also had an old Alfetta 159i as a track day car for a few years and bought a project Alfa Romeo GT Junior with the intent of racing it, but before I could complete the project someone offered me double what I paid for the car so I sold it and bought a Toyota Conquest race car instead. I currently race the Conquest in endurance races and plan to race in the 111 Series next year as well.

  '66 Austin Mini 1000 Mk1
Posted by: alfaquad - 10-04-2015, 11:56 PM - Forum: Your Minis Spec - Replies (12)

Hey guys,

So here is my '66 Austin Mini 1000 Mk1!

It's completely standard apart from the 10" Minilight wheels with 165/70 10" tyres and two Instyle bucket seats.

The motor is a standard 998cc but runs with an SU HS-4. As you can see, it has the Australian doors on.

The whole car was rebuilt in 2004 - resprayed, engine rebuilt, interior redone. I drove it as my daily when I was in varsity for about 1.5 years. Since then it has not been driven much and at the moment it's been standing for quite some time.

I plan to fix all the issues on it soon so I can enjoy the car again! I've just been spending all my free time on sorting out my Toyota race car this last year...

Hi,

I'm very happy with the size, Its not big at all, and will neatly fit in the corner (or center) of any window.

Very unique and probably quite rare. What were these used on? Only the early cars?
