I am Paul van der Merwe, I stay in Graaff Reinet, am the proud owner of a project 1965 Morris Mini Minor. I have rebuild a few beetles in my earlier years but this will be my first Mini.
I would like if someone can clarify the exact model and engine. is that even possible to do from the vin numbers.
VIN number - UNKT8N242C  The 8 might be a B
Engine no - 8AMUH758294

So any info and advise would be greatly appreciated.

anyone know if  a golf 1.3 or 1.6 carb engine can be swapped into a clubman ? my clubman will be back from sandblasting soon and wanted to know if it can be done for reliability and abit more power .

After driving many hundred of miles around your beautiful country in a GTS during the 1990s and early 2000s,  I've just bought a 1974 one here in England.  It was imported last year and has yet to be registered even though its not for road use but going to be used for hill climbs and sprints in the unmodified road going classic class.  

I know nothing of the differences (if any) between UK built Minis and those built in South Africa is I thought the best place to ask would be here. 

I was hoping to see lots of detailed pictures but it seems that the pictures somehow disappear from older posts on this forum. 

For starters, Is anyone able to explain the VIN numbering please mine is  XAD2S followed by five numbers and suffix U.  Engine number is 12HGTSH followed by four numbers.

I have been hunting high and low for these panel clips. I thought I would give this forum a bash. Maybe I strike it lucky and someone here has a few laying around. The males are easy to come by, but the females are another story. I am currently looking for 8 of each, so if anyone has or has an idea where I can find please let me know.

Pic of the original twin cam developed by BMC to run on a 998 engine for Formula 2 race car.  So some mad man built it to stick in the back of a formula 2 race car but was a total failure. The experimental engine was fitted to a mini but became a money pit and so good old Sir Alex then sold the design to Innoceti .  They then re-hashed it a fitted it to a BMC B series engine.

a 1275 eng [morris 1100 S] with Honda t/c 16 valve lid and some interesting bits in the bottom.  6 speed sequential shift gear box and ATB diff and dry sump engine
