Looking for a pair of Cooper S bucket seats
Posted by: Jeremydup - 04-26-2021, 03:32 PM - Forum: General Chit Chat - Replies (4)

Early Cooper Ss in South Africa were unique in having bucket seats made from fibreglass and covered in light green and cream vinyl. I’m looking for a pair.

  Mini 1275 GT

So, it happened that i saw on a fellow Mini enthusiasts post on Facebook last year, that someone is considering selling his 1971 1275 GT. It took me almost 4 months to convince him to sell it to me, as someone from the UK was about to buy it and export it there, unfortunately that deal fell through due to the whole Covid issue and that meant, i was able to purchase it from the buyer. It is a family owned car, the brother bought it new in 1971 and then the previous owner bought it from him in the 80's.

Unfortunately the interior isn't original and back in the late 90's it had a blow over in paint. The bootlid needs replacing as it has a lot of body filler on it that over the years, started cracking. The engine bay is quite original, but unfortunately had suffered a blown head gasket, so that was the first thing that got some attention.

I changed the head, the carb was just given a proper clean, replated screws and a new spindle and service kit was put it. For now just want to get it running nicely again.

I've managed to find a NOS MK! bootlid replacement, as in SA they came out with a MK1 bootlid and not a clubman one, still unsure i want to use it though. Still has the sticker from supplier.

Next is new tires to be fitted hopefully this week and then I'll take it for a drive around to see if it all in order.

Lastly, my favorite picture of my 2 cars together so far.

Hi All,

I am a longtime Mini fan having owned several in my younger days. I have suddenly felt the urge to build up a Mini but being a pensioner don't have the resources but maybe, just maybe I can pick up parts along the way Big Grin  and realize my dream. If anyone is interested, I have some photos on my FB page of Minis I have owned or family have owned: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=...237&type=3

Cheers, Mike MacLeod

Hey all,

I am new the the forum. Purchased a 76 bullnose with a 1275 engine from a close friend. Car needs body work and still far from done. Hoping to meet some awesome people here, make friends, and get this project off the ground.

Car is currently pink. Plan to start sanding and prepping myself to get it sprayed. Interior I will do mostly myself except the seats.

List of stuff I starting looking for already:

1) 13 inch 4x101 rims.
2) Disc conversion for the fronts.

Can't wait to get this going. Should be fetching an electric sander this week to make sanding easier.
